On our last stint in Europe we managed to make Oktoberfest twice. Congrats to us (although there is nothing to be too proud of considering our Oktoberfest tips).This year - back in Seattle - we are celebrating by pouring beers (followed by drinking them) at Fremont Oktoberfest. We are following this up with a journey to that mystical land known as Leavenworth for the largest Oktoberfest outside of Munich.
Here is a video of the Oktoberfest in Berlin from 2013 that gives an overview of some of the songs and traditions that go with any Germany drinking festival. These are in order and you can definitely see the room warm up with people moving from seated, to singing, to literally dancing on the tables.
